Amour.de.lionne 63 Posted April 25, 2014 Hello, my names Amanda and I started this journey back in November of 2013 at montifiore hospital in the Bronx, ny with dr. Choi as my surgeon... I'm still in the process even though I've finished with all my appt's monti just seems to keep stringing me along, I'm so not satisfied with them and how they run things there because I'm pretty much just waiting for call backs after I've made numerous attempts to contact them about my process. To them I'm probably just another fat girl waiting in line and I don't feel like there was any connection as a Rny patient. As you can see my patience and tolerance with them is not at it's best! Has anyone gone through something similar???? Please let me know so I can have some hope atleast!

Amour.de.lionne 63 Posted May 19, 2014 Hi! I'm getting surgery at montifiore too. How's everything going? Did they ever get back to you? dde0a Hey Christy, yes they did get back to me and I'm already done with everything but I'm having some issues with my liver so I need a ct scan, so after I'm done with that I can call aj to finally get an appt set to see dr. christy38 17 Posted May 19, 2014 So glad to hear that your almost done. Well my story is a little different. I started my testing and seeing doctor choi last year and i did all my testing but never finished the process because I switched jobs and insurance. So now I have Medicaid with metro plus. I have to speak to AJ tomorrow thought about my support letter. I think she said I have to go to the seminar and two support groups and provide a pcp support letter. It's all crazy but hopefully I'll get it done before September. I'm scared. I've never had surgery so you can imagine how I feel. ????

Cybil2300 0 Posted July 10, 2014 I had surgery at Montefiore with Dr. Camacho on 6/10/14. The process was crazy and the aftercare is worse. They don't return calls even when you tell the operators you're in serious pain. I can't believe it's a "center of excellence. " They need to get it together. I agree with the after care at the hospital was not good, I felt I wasn't in montifiore anymore once in the recovery room! 1 AdriAdri reacted to this
Cybil2300 0 Posted July 11, 2014 My experience with the hospital has been horrible. It over now but unfortunately I still have to go for the follow up appointments. I'm 4 weeks out and still in a lot of pain and discomfort. I am very swollen and bloated. They didn't prepare me for the aftermath. I wouldn't recommend them. Amour.de.lionne 63 Posted July 11, 2014 Thank u Amanda!! how much weight have you lost so far? And are u happy with the surgery and regrets? I have lost 22 lbs so far and I'm indecisive with my feelings, some days are better than others. It is an emotional roller coaster but everyday gets better! I'm on 2 and half weeks out so I got a long way to go, I'm learning about what beverages and foods I can and cannot tolerate... I know it gets better'
christy38 17 Posted July 11, 2014 I guess everything can't be perfect. Montifiore seems like a good hospital. I think they just have way too many patients. I think they need to slow down a bit on that. It's hard with all the obesity issues in ny and montifiore gets a lot of patients that have been referred by others that had they're surgery there. Happy you are on your way to a healthier you. I know the process might not be what you would imagine it to be but who really knows that? Only the ones that have gone through it. Not even the surgeons know. They only can tell you how it may feel and how things may go after surgery. My process has been long cause I stopped at the end of all tests and weight management because of switching jobs and not having insurance. Now I have insurance and trying to continue where I left off. Hoping that I can finish the process this time. let's see what happens. I finished my 2 support groups, and I have an appointment with doctor choi August 26 , last nutri app August 20th let's see what happens.. ????
