2 Months- 50lbs with pictures!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

It has been a long two months! I've had a lot of up and downs emotionally especially in the first month. I haven't had any real issues other than being extra tired I think because I lost my first 30 lbs in less than 3 weeks. Now that I'm losing a little slower I'm not at tired. I'm 2 months and 2 days post op. As of yesterday I have officially lost 50lbs! Start weight 230lbs. Current weight 180lbs. I have 40lbs to my goal!

How much did you lose before surgery. You look wonderful. Dont give up this race is a marathon, not a sprint.

Thanks!!

I didn't lose any weight before surgery. I was considered their "smaller patient" so I didn't have to do the liquid diet or anything like that.

I actually put on 15lbs from time I started process of getting surgery approval. No one knew why I kept gaining weight because I didn't eat that much!

I'm really happy I had this surgery because I feel so much better! I went from barely fitting into XXL to a L!

Congratulations! I was considered a "smaller patient" as well. Keep going, and try to enjoy the ride!

Thank-you so much! I'm so happy I was able to get this surgery! I already feel better!! My sleep apnea is pretty much gone! I'm sleeping again! I can go up and down stairs and go for long walks without getting tired! I feel like my life is moving in the right direction! :)

I'm also lucky that my doctor was able to get me in when he did because the insurance I had was ending on 2/28 and I had to get different insurance. They covered my surgery 100%. My new insurance does not cover any bariatric surgery or any type of weight loss program.

Congratulations, you look wonderful, thank you for your picture and motivation. Can you imagine how great it will be on the next months for you... How are you feeling? Everything going down okay? How was.the pain?

I'm soon to get my surgery and truth be told, feel like hell with a thyroid condition that caused more weight gain, now insulin which made it worse and can't breath too well. Going to my cardiologist appointment soon. Hoping this surgery can make it all better. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thank-you! I'm so happy I can help motivate others. ????

I'm feeling okay as far as eating goes... Everything is all healed at this point from the outside. I feel really tired on some days but that has been getting better as the weight loss slowed a bit.

I haven't had much trouble with food or eating. I was worried that the surgery didn't go right for awhile there because I experienced no dumping syndrome! I purposely ate part of a cupcake with super rich icing just to make myself dump because I was worried! (It worked ????) I had one other experience where I think I ate too fast or too much because as soon as I put the last bite in my mouth I had to run to the bathroom because it came right back up!

The pain was tolerable... My surgeon was wonderful but the general nursing staff that "cared" for me after surgery was horrible! If they would have listened to me and handled the pain medications properly I would have been great! Long story about the nurses but an example is they put my fentanyl patch on backwards and then wondered why I was in pain. I got yelled at for trying to walk like 6-7 hours after surgery when I was told I needed to walk at like 4 hours. This nurse said I wasn't allowed to get out of bed and she tucked me in and hooked me up to a bunch of stuff so I couldn't walk! There's more but it's too much to type now. Anyways, you will be fine. I'm sure the hospital you will go to will be more competent!

I'm so sorry to hear how you are feeling. Hang in there! This surgery will definitely change your life. I'm sure the surgery will help with a lot of your health issues. I can't honesty believe how different I feel after 2 months! It's amazing how I can now go up and down the stairs and not feel tired....

You keep us updated about your surgery. Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
