I am looking for some data regarding GERD and the Rny Gastric Bypass for Post Op's. You can be a virgin stomach or a revision patient, if you are a revision, please reply in the comments as well. I am revising from Sleeve to Bypass because my Surgeon feels it will be best bet to cure my GERD. I have it extremely bad and even if it helped to make it better it would be a relief for me.

Thanks in advance!

I had reflux terribly before my revision from band to rny. I never had it prior to the band or once it was out. Heartburn and reflux both were a cause and effect of band life for me. I am almost a year out from the rrvision and feel fantastic!!

I still take meds for my Gerds but it's not as bad as it once was.

I believe I'm a rarity because most people get rid of their Gerds and reflux from bypass surgery.

Good luck with your revision surgery.

@@Chelly thank you for your honest response. For me even a little bit of relief would be good for me. I am in a really bad state. :(

I am also so bad with GERD that is causing me bad health issues. I have to have a bypass. I've had two sets of surgeons tell me this from two different Universities. Nissan fundoplication due to my weight will fail so this is the best option. Medicine is no longer working and I have asthma so bad that despite treatment sometimes is uncontrolled despite treatment. My asthma meds also weaken the sphincter between my esophagus and stomach. They also tell me it will eliminate the GERD.

Hi, thanks for your response @@MommaD88 - my asthma has been just as awful. :( Hopefully we will both feel better soon with our revision surgeries.

I have the band and will be revised to the bypass may 7th. I have Barrett's esophagus ow which is pre cancer die from long term Gerd. My doc said the shape of a leave would be bad for a Gerd patient/ Barrett's, this why bypass is better. I have read on here the part that makes acid in our bodies is bypassed with the bypass. Hope this helps.

I'm very glad to see that the results are showing GERD is either cured or much less than before. It's an awful thing to have.

I had acid refux ( GERD) for over 10 years on Prilosec then nexium. I had it really bad to the point that I would wake up in the middle of the night choking on my own vomit.. Literally the day I had my RNY it was completely gone and I have been off my meds since the day of surgery with no acid reflux whatsoever ! 100% gone !

Yes I hope so too LittlemissDiva Irene. After my surgery I follow back up with my pulmonary doctor for my regular check up. Hopefully I have some weight off by then.

@@rhfactor272 Please consider the fact that it is well known now days that GERD can and usually does get worse post op. I am almost 4 years post op and it took years before it got to this point. Of course it is always your personal decision at the end of the day though. All the best with your journey.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
