racheld11 1 Posted April 25, 2014 I had my surgery on 4/22 and I'm scheduled to go back to work on the 30th. I work in retail, so I'm always on my feet. I have been eating fine and no nausea. My pain right now is tolerable. I'm just worried I won't be ok to go back to work. Anyone else in the same situation? Thank you!
healthyme1963 136 Posted April 25, 2014 I'm rather surprised that your surgeon is releasing you to return to work so soon. I would think that, if your surgery was laparoscopic, you would have to be off work for a minimum of two weeks, and four weeks for open surgery. Eight days just seems too soon to go back to work. You're not even allowed to lift more than 10 pounds for a month. Maybe you should call your surgeon's office? Good luck; I hope you can get a little more time off to heal. You just had major surgery, after all.
vsg_joanna 67 Posted April 25, 2014 I was only out of work for a week- granted, I do have a desk job.... BUT my commute includes 60 minutes of walking each day. It was difficult, but I survived. The worst part was worrying about bathroom emergencies and gas discomfort during the commute.
Jen:) 40 Posted April 25, 2014 I had surgery on a Monday and went back to work Friday. I'm a nurse so I'm on my feet quite a bit too, but I had no problems. I took it easy and didn't lift anything (or anyone)..for me standing and walking felt more comfortable than sitting anyway.

DeniseNCC1701 306 Posted April 25, 2014 I had surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. I have a desk job, so that helped, but I felt OK, and the distraction was welcome. Be well…
