mommyjamie 83 Posted April 25, 2014 I made soupy cream of wheat but have no idea when enough is enough. I used 1 c milk and 2 tbsp. farina with a touch of Splenda. What would be considered a serving? I ate probably 1/3 of it and feel like I could eat more, but don't want to risk anything. Help!
Susan-031314 179 Posted April 25, 2014 Oats fill me better than wheat. I would make a hearty serving from the box directions using Water. I would then divide by 4 for a serving. 3 go into the fridge for later, then I add milk to make my serving runny or thin. I feel so much more satisfied when I set down with my small serving in a small bowl and I can eat the whole thing. I also like having 3 servings handy and quick in the fridge. This has been a go to for me.
gamergirl 4,610 Posted April 25, 2014 I have a bunch of full liquids and soft food recipes that I used posted here. Be sure to read the list of ingredients carefully since different docs have different reccos on what is allowed. All these are high Protein and low carb. http://twosleevers.com/category/recipes/full-liquids-soft-foods/ 2 mommyjamie and Susan-031314 reacted to this
marfar7 1,533 Posted April 25, 2014 When I was on full liquids (4 weeks of em, ugh!) I wasn't allowed oatmeal. Too chunky I guess. I was allowed soupy cream of wheat and malt o meal. Never been a fan of any hot Cereal besides flavored oatmeal (the kind filled with sugar!), so I bought some chocolate malt o meal. Yuck. Didn't eat enuf to see if it filled me up or not. I stuck with cream Soups (Progresso Tomato Basil is yummy), sf Jello, sf puddings, yogurt, and Protein shakes. Congrats on being able to progress ur diet. BTW, my serving size that first month was about 1/2 of a little pudding cup, or 1/2 cup of Soup. 1 mommyjamie reacted to this
seattleslew 36 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) I'm on full liquids this week and cream of wheat tasted good to me. My surgeon said 3-4 oz is a serving and if it "Plops, stop!" So My husband just made the smallest possible serving size (using skim) and then I put it in tupperware and when i'm ready for Breakfast I mix about 3 oz of the Cereal w/1 oz skim milk to make it runny because it does set up a bit. It portioned out to about 3 to 4 servings. I find this the best way to mix in my nexium too...all in one nasty bite & enjoy the rest. Just slow & steady..Good Luck! Then add the milk to thin it. I just made a thinned serving. It was a PITA to make and I wasted so much. I feel like an idiot. Probably just lack of nutrition.lol
Susan-031314 179 Posted April 25, 2014 Mine was more like 2 oz measured cooked Cereal to 1 oz milk. My Dr's rule is "If you can pick it up with a fork, it's too thick." 1 seattleslew reacted to this
