Becoming depressed after a little over 2 years

Recommended Posts

I am a little over 2 years from my sleeve surgery. I was doing so well and within the past few months I have picked up so much weight, I am becoming really depressed and feeling down. I feel that I have failed and can't get back on track. I am at my last rim of hope to try and get back on track and get that motivation I had before and after I got the surgery. Is there anyone out here that has been where I am right now and have over come all of this? If so please send me whatever you have. I just need some support from people who know where I am coming from. PLEASE HELP!!!!post-118787-0-99982500-1398396364_thumb.jpg this picture is summer of 2013

You can do this!! It is a hard life long journey that we are on, but look what all you have already been through. Try to get back to the basics and think about those first couple months!! How exciting!! Think how much healthier you are. You are not totally at a loss here. You have the tools to help you. Embrace where you are at now and get back at it!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! And if it is mental stress is causing a slight relapse, recognize it and move forward. No emotional stress eating is ever good. You still weigh a whole lot less than me, and I am brimming with confidence. Come on and lets continue this road of health and happiness we are on!! We are here to support you!! :)

Thanks for posting this. It reminds all of us that we have to be vigilant and that really is a life long journey.

I think you need to forgive yourself for getting off track and get back to business. I would go back to basics, act like you've just had surgery and tomorrow is your first day home. Concentrate on getting in all your Water and drink Protein shakes for a day or 2, then progress on, eating Protein first. Make sure your following all the "rules" like in the beginning. Take yourself back there and give yourself a "do over" reminding yourself you had surgery and have a great tool that needs to be used appropriately :)

I suggest finding a bariatric support group near you and go make an appointment with a psychologist and NUT. You just need a little help to get back on track. We all do at times.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
