does anyone take certain foods in their purse/car for when you are on the go and don't have alot of time? i'm starting to worry that my fast paced lifestyle is going to be a problem when it comes to eating. one of my biggest problems is shoveling in food because i am in such a hurry all the time....so the question is: is there anything great to keep with you all the time just in case? thanks y'all!:help:

how bout a small portion of nuts? Beef Jerky is not a problem for me, so I'd keep some of that around. Granola bars are good.

I always mean to, and I should take my own advice and put some of these things in my own glove compartment! It's just going to depend on what foods work for you, and providing they're healthy enough choices... whatever you want should go!

My best bets so far have been string cheese and chunks of diced turkey. I buy kettle fried breasts from costco and dice them up. They are super moist and yummy - even when cold! Of course, they need to be kept refrigerated.

I was worried about this for the soft / mushy stage, which I'm in.

For this stage, I've used sugar free puddings mixed with a tablespoon or two of Protein powder. sugar free Jello is also handy to throw in your bag if you are headed out the door to work or something. I also bought some very small containers and filled them pureed tuna + mayo + relish, and I have them at work in the fridge. Last but not least, low-fat Laughing Cow cheese wedges. They are only 35 calories and 2.5 G Protein per wedge.

I too can be a fan of the Atkins protien bars. I look for at least 15 grams of protien or it's not worth it for me. The key in my eating is, NEVER RUSH!!! When I have rushed in the past in an effort to eat and go, I get sick. If I have to go somewhere in a hurry, I just don't eat. It's better to be safe than sorry in my life.

Nuts have a lot of calories but if eaten in moderation they really knock the hunger pangs for me. Yes, nuts have a lot of fat but it's not the kind of fat that tries to kill you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
