Who Dat 70461 331 Posted April 25, 2014 Can't speak for others, but I'm almost 1 year post op (May 8th) and have been absolutely thrilled with my results! The decision to proceed with the surgery was by far the right choice!My wife was sleeved two months after me and would echo the sentiment. My surgery and recovery were textbook...zero complications. Feeling great and off pain meds after 2 days...back to work in five days. Hers was more challenging, as she had two hernias repaired and the recovery was a bit tougher/longer. However, she was feeling great after 3-4 weeks and now the whole recovery phase is a distant memory. Now keep in mind, this surgery is only a tool, albeit a huge one! You will need to eat smart (Protein first!) and exercise...but trust me, without the extra weight holding you back, you'll feel like you can freakin' fly! I hit my goal around 9 months and my wife took around 7 months. We both have our exercise routines...I do strictly weight training, while she doesn't lift anything but her feet! (walking/cardio is her thing) I've heard of some folks regaining weight, but I've heard of just as many others who have kept it off successfully. I guess you could fall back into old habits if you were weak and didn't want to succeed, but that's your call. If you want it bad enough (whatever it is), you will find a way to succeed. If you don't want it, you will find an excuse. Trust me, this site will be your best source of straight forward, no holds barred, information...you'll find yourself spending more time here than Facebook! If you have a question, need a sympathetic ear or just need a place to sound off...this is it. I pray you have a great surgery and speedy recovery! Just remember, follow your doctor's orders to the letter, give your body time to heal, don't let the number on the scale be your only measure of success and whatever you do, don't waste money on a lot of new clothes the first 5-6 months...'cause you'll be dropping sizes faster than you can fathom! Who Dat 70461 331 Posted April 25, 2014 popcorn is no problem, although some will probably scold me for saying such a thing! Chili fries on the other hand...don't think I would do that to myself! I suspect your co-worker should probably do some soul searching and decide if she wants to go back to her old self...the temporary satisfaction of chili fries (chili fries...really?!?! ) just isn't worth it. I can eat whatever I want (Although I still can't tolerate canned tuna...stomach just doesn't care for it any more?!), but I now see food for what it is...necessary! Carbs aren't evil...they're fuel! It is an amazing feeling...to be full, from so little! I am excited for you! I'll get off my soapbox for now. Don't worry, you will do great!
