I'm So Mad I Could Cry!

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 8 of my Pre Op liquid diet and I come hme from work to find the kitchen table covered in pie! Savory pies, sweet pies... You name it and it's on the table(of course I'm exaggerating, but there is an awful lot of pie on that table)!

I am STARVING and this is what my family decides to eat for dinner? Seriously?? It's been well over a year since we've been to this pie place, but today is the day my family MUST have pie for dinner. Wow, thanks for the support.

I don't expect them to change their eating habits because of me, but this just fees a tad insensitive.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Man, that's tough! I'm several months out, but I can totally identify with your experience. I got clean and sober many years ago and for the first few months my home was not safe. It made that difficult time much more challenging than it needed to be.
This time around my wife is also sober and we're doing this together. I'm sorry your family isn't being as sensitive to your situation as they could be. But you know that this is one of the hardest parts and you will get past it. Hang in there. You've come so far already and the fresh start you're after has already begun!

KPay, let me start by congratulating you on your awsome weight loss so far! Wow, you really jump-started the process. Second, let me say that I totally empathize, cause pre-op is the worst when it's all liquid! SSSOOO much easier post op! Just wait until an 8 oz shake feels like a 12 pound steak in your tiny tummy!

They shouldnt have brought the pies home, for sure! But they can't possibly understand what they've done to you like your B~pals here. We stand with you and applaud your strength! Best wishes. Vent anytime!

I am 5 days in my preop diet. My mother, who is usually my best support. Tonight she ordered frenchfries while I got my Ice Tea. I had to drive her 5 miles with that smell. Ugggggggg

Thanks to those of you who responded. Your support is awesome! I felt much better once I had my mini pity party. lol. Then I drank my Protein shake and forgot all about pie. :)

Tomorrow is another day...

My husband is currently being "trained" to not set me up for failure! I just set up my first appointment for my mandatory 6 month doctor assisted weight loss program. I have instructed my darling to start throwing out or donate any food he wont eat within the next month in the pantry. I will do the same with foods I normally eat. I will re-stock with "acceptable" foods. He also knows that I will become all kinds of crazy if he tempts me with naughty foods when I tell him I am on strict foods. Gotta love my hubby, he is a real trooper <3

Hang in there! Just remember that no pie is worth daily insulin injections or not being able to play with your kids. That's what I tell myself when someone walks in the room with food. It will be worth it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
