treilly 16 Posted April 24, 2014 I had my surgery on March 6th and have only loss 27lbs so far. Is this normal? Is anyone else having the same issue? I've been walking some but I have a bad knee so I can't push myself like I need to. Eating has been good and I'm consuming between 600 and 800 calories a day. The Fluid intake is getting better. So I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Could really use some advice.

Protein plays a major role in weight loss and wellness after surgery. 1 treilly reacted to this
Truckerchic 171 Posted April 24, 2014 That's almost 5lbs a week, that's great! Your body went thru a major surgery and total lifestyle change, you will have slow Downs and even stalls but stick to your plan and it will happen. This is a life long journey don't set time limits on yourself that's to much stress 4 Barbara Paulie Tierno, pquinn181, MrsGloMartin and 1 other reacted to this
Wallflower7522 328 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Mine was March 4th I've lost 33lb since day of surgery not including what I lost on my liquid diet. So it sounds like I'm just a bit ahead of you. My weight loss has slowed down a lot the past week or two. It's just going to take time. If sounds like you're doing good. Of course I wish I was losing 1-2 lbs a day, but I know it will happen eventually. Also remember the smaller you are, the slower you're going to loose. I see your starting weight was 265, mine was 291. Most of the people who loose 40-50lbs a month like you see on TV have much higher starting weights. treilly 16 Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks ladies!!. I've been keeping track of my Protein and some days I do really good and then others not so good. I know I need to get it in. Hoping that's my issue. Will work harder to eat all the Protein I'm suppose to eat daily.

I am not being hard on myself, I know I am doing the right thing with food and eating nutritional and healthy stuff so I am just being patient. I am exercising every day though, doing 3km walks to get fit and tone up. dont be hard on yourself
Rosetta2014 2 Posted May 4, 2014 I had surgery on Apr. 9th and I've only lost 10lbs. in 3wks. My doctor told me I need more Protein at least 60mgs and I was at 40mg which causes my body to go into starvation mode and it's holding on to the fat. So that was Wed. and today is Sunday and I still have not lost a lb.

RNBSN786 206 Posted May 4, 2014 I had my surgery on march 31, I lost 10 pounds before the surgery and after surgery I lost 20 pounds. I was 210 and now I am 180. My clothes are fitting much better and clothes that I have not worn in yrs fit nicely. So losing inches also make a big difference. Everyone's journey is different. Some people lose it fast and some lose it slow. I don't compare myself to anyone except for myself. People are right in this forum we need to eat more Proteins and exercise. I struggle with my Protein intake cause a lot of times I am not hungry but more thirsty and I walk but have not done anything rigorous. My goals are to reach my protein intake daily and to hit the gym in June which will bring me 2 months post op. So see what you are doing in your daily diet and see where you need to tweak it to reach your goals. Best of luck! 1 treilly reacted to this

It seems like we are on the same period schedule...I have mine also. But yes Proteins is the key to weight loss which I struggle with. Hard to get it all in one day. I think I am going to have to drink more Protein Shakes through out the day.
Rosetta2014 2 Posted May 6, 2014 I'm 4wks. Post-Op. I'm finally taking in 90gms of Protein and staying around 1000 cal. for 4 days. But last night I ate 2pcs. of baon making sure I chewed it well. but I started to throw up and I threw up all night and until 9am this morning I couldn't lay down with out throwing up. So I am having a yogurt now and It seen the thowing up has passed. could it have really been the bacon?

Maybe try turkey bacon? For now my surgeon has said no red meat or pork for 6 months out. Also 1000 calories is a lot early on. Has you doc said to take in 1000 calories a day? Every surgeon varies. For now my intake is about 500-600 calories a day max. Even that is still a lot for me. I mainly drink a TON of Water and also I am 5 weeks out. 1 Rosetta2014 reacted to this

I just received a call from my doc and you are right no bacon or red meat, I don't know how I skip that part. I will have to ask about the 900 cal. a day she might give me that allowance to get the 60-80gms of Protein in.
