Psy evaluation-help

Recommended Posts

:help: I just had my psy evaluation today. The doc scared me a little about eating post surgery. How eating was a chore and not fun and it would be that way the rest of my life. He suggested I talk to you guys and get your input on it. Is it worth the surgery??? I think it is.... Is it as bad as he made it sound??

Thanks:hungry:

Once I got the rules down (slow eating, small bites, etc), eating was not a chore. Sure, there is some adjusting, and you need to be ready and willing to deal with it. I feel like I have to learn all over again after each fill, but in general I would definitely not categorize eating as a chore.

Thanks-- I thought he might have been laying it on a little thick! I realize it will take adjusting to but I think it will be worth it!!

I agree, eating isn't a chore. I have to actually chew each mouthful now and take my time, but its by no means laborious. You just have tp be prepared to change your eating habits. But after 5 months for me, its just second nature now, we adapt very quickly when we have to!

I am on my 2 week pre op diet and I am changing my eating habits now. I chew every bite 25 to 30 times. Eat VERY slowly. And I stop drinking 15 minutes before I eat and wait an hour after I eat to start drinking again.

Your relationship with food will definitely change. Meal times are a bit of a chore for me because I am afraid of eating too much food now. I am always concerned I am not getting in enough Protein and enough calorie intake as well. It just takes some balance. You will be okay. Its worth it.
