I was sleeved on April 7th and have had no issues EXCEPT belching. Every time I take even a sip of liquid or eat anything my stomach is bloated and I belch immediately. Often I have to just stop eating and walk around to ease the discomfort. I have searched for others who have the same experience but all I've found is bypass patients. I'm taking Prilosec twice a day, Maalox, gasX and even beano now before every meal. Nothing helps :(

So sorry! Our tummies are quite sensitive! And noisy! I know its uncomfortable but if you are concerned about it being something else, give your dr a call. I called quite a lot in my first few weeks. Feel better soon!

It happens and then it goes away and then it happens again. I think I have it when I eat a bit too fast. Just be conscious of how you are chewing and swallowing...but...sometimes it just happens. I do the same thing. I was eating some cooked salmon the other night and put some light Miracle Whip on it to make sure it was moist and after about 2 baby spoon bites, I was burping and miserable and had to walk and have my back rubbed/patted to help it up. I also too a GasX and that didn't help. So I decided that it just may be the fish and I need to cut back on fish for a while. Now all is good. I have heard that after about 3-5 months, the noises and sounds will get quieter. Let's hope so, huh!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
