After I ate today I had a strange feeling in my chest and my left shoulder started to hurt. Is this an indication of eating too much?

I think thats probably gas from eating too quickly but I am only about 3 weeks post op so I can't say for sure. It happens to me too so I am curious to hear the response of others. I have been taking Gas X desolvable strips and that makes a tremendous difference.

It definitely could be from eating too much, but it could also be from eating too fast. I find if I don't put my fork down between mouthfuls, I get pain in my chest, then when I do, and take a break and let the food make its way down before I take the next mouthful, I'm fine. It could also be from eating food that is too dry. If I eat say chicken with no sauce/dressing or any kind of cake or bread (which I don't do at all anymore) it really hurts, cos there is not lubrication for it to make its way through.

However the shouder pain might still be gas pains from your surgery, this can continue for several months for some people I've heard!

Hi there,

Had the exact same issue after my surgery (last summer) - just hang in there. I'll bet it's the leftover gas bubbles working their way out. I know it's painful, but it will go away soon.

Good luck to you!

Lisa

berry, it definitely sounds like restriction kicking in. Just make sure you eat small bites and really slow so your stomach sensors can go off before you get too full. Julie
