SparkleCat 521 Posted April 23, 2014 I had my surgery yesterday....so far so good other than some bout with nausea which suck! A few minutes ago I dry heaved 3 times and am terrified that I could have damaged the staple line....having your stomach spasm and contract can't be good for it Nausea comes with no prior warning....one minute I'm fine and next I am trying to grab the puke bowl. Only drinking Water and broth so its, luckily not too gross
Darianna75 131 Posted April 23, 2014 I violently vomited for 5 days no stop after the surgery and didn't do any damage. Let your surgeon know if you aren't at the hospital still , but I think you should be fine

Two.Penguins 37 Posted April 23, 2014 I had issues with the pain meds right after surgery. I dry heaved for hours and then puked up blood. It scared the crap out of me.....I was fine.
MelBooks 76 Posted April 24, 2014 I was on a constant dose of Zofran the first few days after surgery and then needed it in the mornings a few more days. There's also a patch called Scopolamine that helps a lot too. Call your doc, they DO NOT want you heaving at all.
SparkleCat 521 Posted April 24, 2014 Thanks yall! I'm still the hospital and saw my surgeon right after it happened, he didn't seem very concerned but wanted me to stay another night just in case...had a lot of drugs and haven't had another incident. The heaves hurt bad! Scared the bejesus out of me! While I wouldn't wish nausea on anyone, I've got to say it's comforting to know I'm not the only one
