Hi everyone, I am in the process of prepareing to be sleeved.I am finding as i get closer to booking my surgery date i am having second thoughts.

i am 50 years old and 247lb i work as a hairdresser and am finding with weight and age that my job is becoming much more difficult and this is why i am considering the surgery.I have to be able to work for another 15 years! lol

I guess I'm just scared of the surgery I'm a BIG BABY so i guess what i want to know is how bad do you feel after and what to expect.

I am 51 and weighed 224 at surgery.

I had no pain other than where the anesthesia settled (in my left shoulder) and a heating pad solved that.

I did have a lot of nausea the first couple days. They gave me nice medication for that. I stayed in the hospital one night and slept for the next 2 days at home. I started to feel back to myself day 10 or so.

Would I do this again? Oh YES -

I have lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. I'll take that :) I also have no hunger -- which I love.

I've set non-food goals for each milestone and each week I purge my closet. I am so busy going and doing fun stuff I never even think about food.

It is so worth it

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
