That's great! Are you planning on having the surgeries at the same time?

That's our goal. We have no family here so we have to see if we can find someone to come be a "babysitter" if not the we will have to go separate.
Based on my experience, my recommendation would be for ya'll to have it done at least a month apart; unless you have some really good supportive help staying at your house while both of you recover. I was pretty much bed ridden for the first 4 weeks and depended solely on my 17 year old son and my husband.

Would be cool if we could do a NC meet and great. Who knows maybe we can even further support each other.

Wow! You had SIPS correct? I wonder what the typical is for Gastric Bypass. Guess it's time continue researching.

That would be cool @raptorwit h!

I wonder if we can get enough interest.

I don't know... since this forum isn't too active, is there another part we could post on to say we were trying to make the forum active and plan a meet up?

I'm not really sure. I'm rather new to the forum.

I had SIPS surgery on 3/25/15 in Durham with Dr Bovard of NC Bariatric Specialist. I live in Creedmoor.

I have been looking for people who have had sips. I am scheduled in September. Would you consider a conversation?

Hi I'm from the Greensboro area but plan on having my surgery at Duke Regional. My Doctor is Dr. Park. He seems like a great doctor but for the past month I have left messages with nurse as what is my next step for surgery. I have not gotten a call back or anything. I left messages with administrative assistant and or nurses for her to contact me, still nothing. I live almost 2 hrs away so getting an appointment for what can be explained over the phone is crazy. I was wondering if I should switch to Dr. Sudan since you all speak so highly of him or wait it out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
