It's a pleasure to find this thread and know that there are others in my area that have had wls. I am a 31yr/female in Morrisville. I am die to be sleeved on July 14th. I am starting my preop liquid diet and ready to start my journey. I am being sleeved by Dr. Omotosho at Duke Metabolic and weight loss center.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone,

My name is Sharon, I live in SW Raleigh near NCSU, and I'm getting the duodenal switch surgery by Dr. Peter Ng at Rex Bariatrics, hoping for August 2014. I would love to attend any local meetings. I also have lots of plus size designer brand clothes that I'm trying to sell. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/clo/4563514653.html Let me know if you're interested. Thank you!

Best,
Sharon

Hi all! I'm a newbie to Bariatric Pal and RTP. I'm happy to have found you all. Dr. Sudan @ Duke will be my surgeon and I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be sleeved early August. I'm working around my Boss' baby due date :)

He was my doctor last June! He was excellent!

I have had no issues at all! Good luck!

Hi All,

How'd the meeting go? I'm sorry I missed it! I had several client calls this morning and was unable to call in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
