@@Heather CJJ. Hope you're feeling better! The whole digestive thing is so important and I feel like that is never emphasized enough. I had to do the stool softener and magnesium thing around day five. Was out and about and had to race home. Eeek! Every one here is so right about the amazing energy down the road. I can't believe how good I feel now and what I'm able to do. I feel so much younger.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I am slowly on the mend. Took it easy all weekend. Didn't even get out of my pajamas on Saturday. I'm feeling better now, things are passing:) I think it helps that I am eating a little more too. I have lost 18 lbs now, which freaks me out a little, I am just hoping I don't gain anything back:) Now I am dealing with horrible bruising, and soreness in my ribs. Weird I know. Wondering if the doctor did the cha cha in my abs. Lol. This too shall pass and before long I know this will all be a distant memory.

week 1 was hell, but mostly because my body had a funky reaction to the meds i was on. also, i wasn't consuming calories and once my doc changed my meds, i was able to consume calories and get more strength.

by week 2, i felt like i was really starting to feel better.

i have just started my venture into week 3 and i feel like i never even had surgery! i feel great, but i have to remind myself that i DID have surgery. sometimes i will try to bend down really fast and then my tummy hurts where my port is at.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
