Hi ladies, I also have been referred to Dr. Coon. I am still pre op and will be sleeved next week. So far their office and staff have been absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! How well did u lose weight after the surgery? I am 5'5 and 226 lbs. , 36 yrs. Old, & he said my normal weight should be 135lbs but that he would put my goal weight at 150lbs. I'm hoping that doesn't mean the pouch will be larger and so it will take longer to lose. I think I'm just worrying myself sick since I know I'm finally days away from being sleeved, but just thought I would check with ladies who has gotten sleeved already. Thanks for any input ????

I had my surgery 7/1 and so far have lost about 70 lbs. I was pretty much your same size and height. Surgery day I was 242, so a little less. the care and appointments after have ceased as they couldn't get their books right and I only saw them 3 times, basically until I got fully on solids. But my primary does all my bloodwork and everything is great. I am at a stall now, but I think my body needs to catch up to my mind. And my hair is finally stopped falling out.

Have u felt any of the tiredness everybody seems to be having after surgery? Or any of the gas pains?? I got sleeved on 3/31/15 by Dr. Coon and I do feel good, I have more energy today than I've had in a long time. I've been able to get down about 4oz. Of liquids for Breakfast lunch and dinner...and getting my Water intake. But I'm having a very tough time with gas and the gurgle that comes along with every sip I take. So just curious how many oz. U are able to get down and what you have felt so far.

I was also sleeved by Dr. Coon on 3/31. The people he has working in his office are very nice and make you feel comfortable.

I've felt great. It's been a bit hard to get all the Protein I need in but I put in an order for the Unjury unflavored Protein Powder to mix into foods.

Hi!! So ur Jennibean! ???? How has things been going for u? I've been feeling pretty good, can't wait to get the Ok to get into the gym! I too have been having an issue with the Protein. I fill up on stuff like cream of wheat, egg salad, cottage cheese, just anything with protein in it, but am finding that with not being able to even eat a full serving I'm not getting even close to the amount that my body needs, so this payday I'm ordering some Unjury as well. I hope it will help. I'm also only getting about 1/2 of the Water intake I'm supposed to have, maybe 3/4 on a good day. So trying to get that figured out as well. It's tough because in the same breath I'm being told to not drink anything within a half hour of eating and then also being told I'm going to feel like I'm literally eating all day long. I'm just struggling with portion sizes and when to eat when not to eat... All that kind of stuff. How about your diet, how's that going for u?

I'm having a very hard time eating. Mostly just been drinking lots of Water and g2 Gatorade. I found an oatmeal at albertsons that is high in Protein and low in sugar that seems to go down okay.

If you are ever up for an exercise buddy just like walking around the park or was thinking about joining a Zumba class in May let me know. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
