No bowel movement in 9 days!

Recommended Posts

Yay!!!

After 11 days, I have FINALLY unclogged my pipes!!

The Miralax mixed in prune juice was a success. Took about 2 1/2 hours. No cramps or nausea just weird tummy sounds. Neither Colace nor MoM worked for me. The miralax concoction is a winner!!

I was starting to worry that I had obstructed bowels or whatever it called. Whew!! THANK YOU GOD!!!

I went over a week with no bowel movement after surgery and was freaking out. My doctor said it was typical while on the all liquid diet but i could take MoM or Miralax.

Yay! Keep the miralax around. You will need it during your recovery until your diet is able to handle more Fiber. I still take Gummy fiber bears everyday.

Good luck!

I'm having the same problem too. I haven't gone in 6 days and I'm having a major stomach cramp. I took some MOM so I hope that works. Please send happy thoughts my way! :)

Rachel, if the Mom doesn't work, def try the mirilax/ plum juice cocktail. It cleared 11 days of "backup" in like 30-40 mins!!

Call. My dr told me no more than 4 days without a BM. You could be impacted, which isn't any fun.

Hi O-town, I have a question for you & the other members of Constipation Nation-

If you can only take small sips at a time, and Miralax clumps, how can you ingest enough for it to work? Do you just mix it into your unsweetened prune juice and try to sip it quickly & efficiently?

I am seriously struggling (to poop) already on my high-Protein, low-carb pre-op diet. I have surgery in 10 days and I'm worried about how it's gonna "come out"...thank you.

Yay!!!

The Miralax didn't clump nor have a taste. I add it to Gatorade, Apple juice, prune juice, etc. Now the Benefiber clumped! And it was like drinking liquid styrofoam. It's hard to explain. I will never take that again!

Anyway, I took little sips of my cocktail it until I was full. It didn't take much. (of the Mirilax.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
