I am a little over 2 months out from surgery. My incision scars are a dark color....I am wondering if anyone is using or has used a scar cream and had good results? What products are you using?

Scar creams are pretty worthless. The important thing is to keep it moist (vaseline, aquaphor) and cover it with a silicon strip such as Scar Away.

Mederma works really well! My sleeve surgery scars are hard to see. Now I'm working on my month old gallbladder surgery scars.

It has a guarantee so if you not satisfied with the results, you can return it and get your money back within a few months.

Hi, I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am a paramedical Aestheticion which means I work with scar management everyday.Firstly, for the first year after surgery, your surgeon "own's" the scar, and nobody can touch it without his permission. If anyone offer's to, WALK AWAY!!! The first step is to start using retinols (Vit A) on the scars, later you can have microdermabration, and LED light therapy and finally skin needling to break up the scar tissue and make it smoother. The color will get better over time and you will never completely get rid of the scar, but it will definitely look the best it possibly can. The best scar cream I've come across is Beaute Pacifique scars and stripe's, but I'm sure there are lot's of great ones out there. I hope this help you a bit.

Thanks for the response! Definitely not looking for anything that intense with the microdermabrasion and light therapy lol just wanted to know if there's any creams out there. :)

I used mederma a few times after surgery, but then I forgot about it and used nothing. I'm 7.5 months out and my scars have faded to a point where you really have to be looking to see them. I was very worried about the scarring, but they do fade to a point that eventually no one should notice them without staring for awhile at your stomach.

I'm so glad to hear that! I used Mederma religiously for like the first 2 months, but saw no difference, so eventually I kind of gave up and forgot about it and had gotten to the point where I was just accepting that my scars are now a part of me. I got a deep cut on my arm from a piece of glass once and it's still raised and lighter than my skin. I thought my sleeve scars would be the same. Thank you for giving me hope!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
