I had my surgery 3/3/2014 - wondering if anyone can advise

Recommended Posts

I am so afraid that I am going to stretch out my stomach I do not think I am eating enough. So I am seeking advise on how much at once should I be worried about eating before this would happen. At this point in my journey I just this week advanced to soft foods. Fortunately, my surgery went well and I've not had any complications. Every thing I've read says 2 to 3 oz consumption at a time. I am finding it very difficult to just get in 300 calories a day. I am only drinking 1/2 Protein drink like twice a day. Yesterday I ate 1/2 hot dog ( because am so hungry but it made my stomach sing like a canary) I eat 1/2 of a potato as large as kiwi and it takes me about 15 minutes to get it down. 1/3 cup of Soup is about right for me. Today I ate it a bit to fast. Today I was also so hungry I managed to get a 6 oz glass of milk drank in 10 minutes but it did not make me sick, just very full. Thank I felt a panic feeling that I might be stretching my stomach. I do not want to develop a eating disorder, so any advise is greatly appreciated.

Once I was a month out my Dr had my eat 2 eggs and a Protein Shake a day. A couple weeks later I was able to eat whatever I wanted, Protein first of course. Couple weeks after that I started with 2 oz of meat and a 1/4 a cup of veggies though usually I could not get in the veggie most times because the meat made me full. Then in 2 weeks later I increased the meat to 3 oz which is what I eat now and a bite or 2 of veggies and I'm full. However a lot of the time I can only get in the meat. I still drink 1 protein shake a day but I split it in half because I drink ensure. It's the only protein. Shake I can handle. My best advice to you is make sure when you eat you get in that protein and as much as you can. It's the most important part of our diet. I do not eat potatoes or carbs. Not yet. I had my surgery on Feb 5

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
