Protein Bread?

Recommended Posts

I am going to see my nutritionist next week. I will be asking about this for down the road. I'll let you know what she says :-)

I think I will stick to my lettuce wraps. I love eating my Protein in the way of chicken and tuna salad, and even "tacos" in the lettuce wraps. Having 2 diabetics sleeved here, and being older, we have foregone anything that resembles "bread". Good luck to you all.

Sounds like a good source of Protein if you can tolerate bread. For me, bread is no longer my friend. I'm almost 18 months post op & don't tolerate bread well. So good luck if you can handle it.

Anyone ever tried this? Or something similar? I'm only 6 weeks out... Wondering if it's something we can try? https://www.p28foods.com/baked-goods/p28-high-protein-bread

I can't answer this question but I'm interested in the answer. :)

I have a loaf in the freezer right now. I have had 1/2 slices of the whole wheat light SL brand bread as toast and did fine. The P28 wraps have an odd tactile texture (almost velvet-like) but they taste pretty good-I usually split one wrap into 4 sections. I may give it a try this weekend with some BP2 spread.

Hello,

I wish I could try this Protein bread but I've researched it and it's not available in the UK. I received an email saying they hope to deliver to the UK in the future but god knows how soon that will be.

I'll keep an eye out for it though. :))

Be patient. You will not be wanting bread for awhile I promise! You will be afraid but you can sample tiny pieces later on. I have not bought any bread since Sept. 2013 and it is my favorite thing in the world. Not worth the risk.

I have a different brand, but similar bread. It sits heavy and doesn't really taste like bread. It is better toasted. I would wait until you are 4-6months out. It isn't the great thing it makes out to be, IMHO.

I have tried warburtons flat squares toasted with baked Beans. The first time I only had 1/2 and the following time a whole one and was perfectly fine. I wouldn't try any type of thicker bread though for quite some time. :)

I've tried it. I could only do half a slice at a time. I threw out half the loaf though. It's not that' there's anything wrong with it per se. It does sit heavy and thunks hard. But the main thing is I guess 9 months of no bread and I'm out of the habit of eating bread and so it never occurred to me to eat it, and it went stale.

Which I would NOT have believed was possible before surgery! I loved loved loved bread. So in a way, I'm glad I just went cold turkey instead if using this or low carb breads. Because now I don't crave any of them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
