I'm 70 & decided to have the Sleeve. I'm on oxygen & a CPAP. I'm hoping I will be able to get rid of the CPAP but not sure about the oxygen. I have COPD because I grew up around smokers. I've never smoked a day in my life. But, like most overweight people (about 150#) I have a lot of pain & hate to go anywhere. I was wondering if there are any "old" people out there who have had the surgery & how you are doing with it. My cardiologist/internist has had other patients that have had this surgery & have done very well with it. I don't have my surgery date yet. Hopefully I will have a date this week or next.

Well, I am a few years short of you but just wanted to wish you all the best for your surgery. I hope there are "old" people who can give you the encouragement and support you need...

For me, it's the best thing I have ever done, changed my life and rid me of the comorbidites I was suffering pre surgery. In my 50s, I feel 10 years younger - walking, dancing and doing all the great things I had been denied for years.

Good luck, hope it all works out for you :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
