Looking For Encouragement, Online and OFF

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm looking for someone who may have fallen off track for a bit as I have. I had my surgery in Nov 2010, last yr I started gaining weight. My beloved Calico kitty that I raised from a kitten died at 15yrs old. I never truly recovered from her passing, I started eating things that were not good for me nutritionally, big surprise there, right?

I have always worked out, and continued to do so. I even power walked, and went to the gym the day she died. But a few months later I lacked the initiative to motivate myself to go 6 days a week. I live in New England so snow, and cold is a factor when doing outdoor cardio. It really was just an excuse, I've power walked in snow storms.

This past Feb my mother died, again I went off track. Her brother my uncle died from bone cancer 6 weeks later. I did get to speak to him on the phone before he passed, that felt good. I hadn't seen him since the 80's.

I go to the gym for a few weeks, and power walk, and then stop. So I think I need someone who has been there, done that. Anyhew, thanks for reading. I'm in the metrowest area of Mass, if you're in the area maybe we can chat as well.

I'm sorry you have had so much loss in your life lately. It sounds like you're grieving a lot and in an unhealthy way. Maybe some counselling could help you find ways to experience your grief without hurting yourself and your weight loss efforts.

I hear you about the cold winters, though -- I live in NJ and I practically hibernated this winter! Have the weight to show for it, too.

Best wishes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
