Do today is day 3 and I am totally confused on how I should be feeling at this point. I'm NOT hungry at all, only able to drink 2 Protein shakes per day and 2 bottles of Water. I've had a few cups of chicken broth, and sugar free popsicles but I'm extrememly full after eating anything. The incisions are healing well and I spoke with the nurse about my eating habits when she made the post-op call and she assured me that everything is okay. I think mentally I feel like I should be eating much more than what I am currently eating now. The only true pain I've felt is from the port site and gas pains in my shoulder area.

Having such a great support team here and at home is the best!

Congratulations! I can't wait until I'm where you're at, hopefully by the end of May. I'm so glad to hear that you're not hungry and not having problems, that really gives me a boost and helps my fears.

Please keep updating us on your progress and I hope things go well for you.

Sorry I don't have the experience to share something to reassure you, but it sounds like you are where you should be. I guess that feeling that you should be eating more is simply a matter of readjusting an old, long held pattern. I'm having trouble changing my thinking at this point.

Keep up the success!

Hi there, congratulations on your surgery! You are one of the lucky people who are not hungry post-op -- I was, too. There will still be inflammation at this stage and once that goes down there may be a return of hunger. For me this was about a month out and just when I was going for a first fill appointment, so the timing was good. Some people are hungry after the surgery -- the band has been installed but no dimming of the appetite until achieving the right fill. Once my hunger came back I had to work at my eating choices, practicing small portions and most importantly slowing way down and listening hard to my body. Those weeks were an important foundation for later once I reached the green zone and my appetite is not an enemy anymore, just a natural signal that it's time for food. What a relief, but none of us got there overnight!

You think you should be eating more? Is it because of your history with eating or do you think you should be eating more like your post-surgery manual indicates?

We usually just suggest that people do the best they can. You never want to force more food or Water than you're comfortable with. If you get to a point that nothing goes down, that's another story, call the doc.

Unless your BMI is under 25 you should have enough nutrition stored to last a few weeks. You were also pumped full of fluids during surgery so you won't need to drink 64 ozs for a week or more.

Congrats and hope your appetite takes it's sweet time coming back :P

#2muchfun...I definitely believe I should be eating more according to the manual. However, you're exactly right in saying that I should only eat what I can handle. The nurse called me again and told me to not get so caught up on the numbers. So for now I'll just keep up the same regimen. Thanks for the support!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
