brittersmom 33 Posted April 21, 2014 Im 10 months out from surgery. I had a lot of energy until I was hospitalized for kidney stones and had 2 surgeries. Are we allowed energy drinks?
PdxMan 4,292 Posted April 21, 2014 You're allowed to have anything you want. You just have to be prepared to accept the consequences. But, you do know that the "energy drinks" are not really that great for you, right? It's like asking if I can have a cigarette 10 months post. Sure I can, but after going so long without, why would I want to put something in my body like that? If you are looking for energy, look at your general nutrition. Are you getting enough carbs? Healthy carbs, like veggies, legumes ... Are you getting any exercise? Walks?
brittersmom 33 Posted April 21, 2014 Im not eating veggies. My dr told me to focus on Protein only cuz the Protein Shakes make me sick. I do exercise. I go to our local gym. Only go for about an hr a day, 3 days a week cuz I have no energy. I take my Vitamins like I'm suppose to. I know its cuz of being hospitalized. I just need to gain my energy back. PdxMan 4,292 Posted April 21, 2014 How long ago did your Dr tell you this? At 10 months out, you should have progressed to eating a balanced diet of Protein and veggies. Are you trying to do low carb? If so, I can almost assure you that is the reason why your energy is low. Carbs are quickly converted to glycogen and stored in your liver. Glycogen is what your body needs for energy. Did you have your surgery in the U.S.? Do you have access to a nutritionist? Have you tried Premier Protein shakes from Costco/Sam's Club? Many, many folks who have struggled with Protein Shakes have found them tasty. But, I'm more concerned that you aren't able to eat a balanced diet. Are you to tell me all you eat all day long is meat or meat type products? 1 elfnow reacted to this
abordenster 43 Posted April 22, 2014 A Vitamin b shot might help. I get them from my primary once a month. And I do take a b supplement every day.
