I think what I am most scared about right now is how complicated eating sounds...for the rest of my life! Eat now, drink now, don't drink now...how am I going to keep track of all the rules? What if I screw it up?!

Don't freak out about it. You will develop your own routine for everything. Once it becomes habit you don't even have to think about it. Until it becomes habit there are lots of tools that can help you. Some people use timers/alarms on their phones to let them know when they need to eat, drink, or take Vitamins. Logging your daily food and Water helps you to know if you're meeting goals each day. I like Spark People but a lot of people use My Fitness Pal. Good luck!

I was in your shoes last week, I was still skeptical but went with it. I am just so happy now that I did. The diet sounds way may complicated than it turns out to be. As for me I just make sure I get everything in and it is working out well. You will find your routine as the post above stated and it really is actually fun....sort of... to watch yourself develop a new eating pattern with really very little stress and a ton of happiness. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Do you guys have any suggestions for apps or websites that help you log your foods and Water? Help you with planning so you don't get burned out? Especially during the time period before you transition to solids?

My fitness pal is an amazing app. It has tons of data on food and a daily log of it as well as logging your weight. And don't freak out. Just go slow and follow your dr's instructions. Use it as a reset to get away from sweets or other bad habits.

Five months out from RNY and found this to be the easiest procedure I have ever had! The plan becomes rountine after a few weeks... I do use my cell phone alarm for eating and Vitamins since hunger is not too previant anymore. Down #70 and only 22 from my goal already! Took a bit until I could get all the fluids and Protein in but it got better every day! No worries..you will do fine! Love shopping and taking 3/4 of the meds I once took also.. I am almost 65 years young!

I use an app called pillboxie that allows you to schedule all your meds and a badge and notifications will display when it's time to take pills. I took a pic of this mornings pills and once you have taken then you click the boxes. This is for iphone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
