Stall :( 4 1/2 months

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm looking for some advice.i am 4 1/2 months after my gastric sleeve and I'm at a complete stop I've only lost about 45 pounds 20 of which were from the first month and after that very slow weight loss a couple of pounds at a time and then I just stalled and I can't figure out why my body doesn't want to lose anymore of the weight ? I have been very stressed out Leavy so I'm guessing it's the stress but does anybody have any ideas of good ways to go about getting over this stall? Any advice is appreciated I'm going crazy trying to figure out why its so hard to get over this stall .what it is I work out here and there maybe I need to be working out a lot more but I see that some people walk and are having okay weight-loss. ??

I stalled for almost 3 weeks at 4 1/2 months. I don't have any solid advice about how to get over a stall, because I was both eating and exercising properly. My body just needed time to catch up. I know my arm, thigh and waist measurements continued to go down during the stall, but I just didn't see the changes on the scale. This is a great reason to take measurements, for encouragement during those times the scale doesn't move. I also choose to only weigh myself once a week, first thing in the morning, after I've used the bathroom. I would drive myself crazy otherwise!

Don't panic - you are losing weight and doing great!!! It always seems like EVERYONE else in these forums is losing weight faster than me, but I am losing, and that means I'm winning! Blessings!

Calorie cycling is how I keep my losses consistent and it keeps me from stalling out. I usually do 500, 600, 700, and 800 calorie days, then repeat. You can also go back to soft or liquid meals for all but one of your daily meals which would be solid. So 3 Protein shakes and one meal of dense Protein. Should get things moving again! :)

I'm at about over a month stall :( and thank you all for the advice I'm going to start measuring and changing up calories daily . I have come way too far to stop now it's just a little discouraging.

I'm also 4.5 months out and while I've had pretty good weight loss so far, it has slowed quite a lot in the past few weeks .

Sounds like you could benefit from increased exercising. I've tried to continually increase my level of exercising and I think that's helped although I've leveled off in my exercising recently and my weight loss seemed to level off at the same time. Just bought p90x program and will start that tonight in an effort to kick start my weight loss again.

My nut recommended that as I add more calories I should increase the exercise ...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
