Had surgery on 4/15, last Tuesday. And I am still in quite a lot of pain. Is this normal? When did your pain go away and you were able to start regular activities again. It hurts for me to bend over, wash up by myself, take small walks outside, etc. are there any ways except pain meds to help get back to normal? It's been 6 days and I'm a little worried. This is also my first major surgery.

Everyone is differant but I remember I was in pain for 2 weeks. I had to refill my liquid pain meds. I would walk around holding my gut because it hurt so bad just hanging. It took me about 2 weeks to just barely be able to start doing dishes etc.hang in there it will get better.

Have you told your surgeon? Some people experience the VSG differently, I'm sorry to hear you're still in pain. Limit your activities the first week or two, as your body is still getting used to this "new you". Call your doctor, they have answers. Hang in there!

I still felt like crap after a week. It will hurt to bed over and get up out of chairs for a couple weeks. I have also read that sometimes the surgeon can stitch an incision too tightly and that can cause a lot of pain too. Hang in there, it does get better. Keep up your Protein too because protein helps the healing process.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
