I went for my first post op check up at standford BMI clinic, No problems all holes healing well, service port is just above navel. I am still on a full liqued diet of 800-1000 cal and 80-100 grams of Protein for 2 more weeks then one week of pureed foods then one week of soft foods and just as I get regular foods, they will do my first fill, so back on to full liqued for another week.I have lost almost 19 pounds since getting the band a little over a pound a day. BUT I am also going to the gym and doing stairclimber and tread mill at least 5 days a week I am averageing 10k aday in all. I have gone to 2 support groups and spoken to 3 other people that have the band most have had good results. I did come away with a new religion! "I must write everything in my tracker, Lose it as soon as I make it to eat" If not I will forget what I had five miniutes later. All and all I am very lucky to have the Standford BMI clinic within 35 miles of my home, they have a very good follow up and all fills are done under flouriscope (X ray).

747heavy this is good information regarding the post surgical regiment. 800-1000 calories and 10% of that Protein. I was just told to drink 64ozs of low cal fluids (get in the protein). I do have a list of what I should an should not have but a count is good. I was ok'd to start on solid foods a week post op, a little nervous about that but I see you continue with liquids then puree then ease into food. sounds like a good plan. Thanks for sharing

747 heavy - pretty soon you're going to have to change your name to 747 light! Congrats on setting a great tone for your recovery and for the rest of your life!

Your workouts sound amazing - keep up the good work! I found that exercise was my saving grace when I was first banded in 2008 - I hadn't been very active before that, and I started with walking, then added in the gym work as I got lighter and my knees stopped hurting as much.

I applaud you on your success so far and will be interested to see your progress.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
