NSV from students!

Recommended Posts

I'm a teacher and I've always been the fat teacher. I work with inner city kids, so I've been called fat a$$ and other lovely names by some of my more precious darlings...

Yesterday, my students today were talking about their teachers. One asked if the other had that "big girl." The other said no, I don't have any fat teachers. I have that student 2 times a day :-) apparently I'm not a fat teacher anymore!!! :-D

Then I stopped the conversation because we don't talk about other people that way. In my head, I was dancing and celebrating tho!

Your standing out now in a good way. and as a bonus...Your getting healthier and stronger and more energy as you go along.! Working with inner city kids must be quite the task. But rewarding eh?

I have seen the movies based on true stories. But I always imagined that they were tame rather then true reality...

I admire your strength not only in regards to your journey. But also your fortitude for teaching children whop really need you.

I teach at an alternative school. The other day, 4 days before surgery someone said I was wide as a billboard. At 265 pounds I don't think so but look at the source of the comment. It's hard sometimes because you want to say something back. But this time I knew. Not for long. Not for long.

Thank you for all your kind words! Yes the kids make it very rewarding and challenging at the same time :-) the could get very creative and hurtful with their names. More often, those students were truly hurting from something themselves and lashing out at me bc they know I care about them.

amumes- just think in a few months they won't be able to say those types of things anymore!! Don't let them get to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
