HI all, I'm now 11 days post-op. My dr. Added in yogurt, farina, and strained Soup to my diet After 7 days. After the first day of the change I've been nauseous. I haven't felt like eating anything and everything I look at makes me queazy. I got meds from the doctor to combat the nausea but still not feeling right.

I felt so good a few days ago and now I feel like I'm going backward. It this just to be expected??

Anything and everything is to be expected. It is all posted here. Nausea is addressed here more than anything. You just had surgery. Relax and keep reading. Read the topics how to combat the nausea. I never had any but I feel your pain. Happy Easter and count those blessings. Good luck!

If after researching the great information herein this website for help combating nausea .........You might want ask your Dr about a different anti-nausea med (I did that because mine was not working for me, and he switched mine to something that worked better for me).

Best to you!!

I do prenatal nursing and we have our pregnant moms take unisom at night. This might help you though you may have to crush it to get it down. Also some ginger tea might help with the nausea.

The main goal here is to keep your nausea under control so you can keep getting your fluids in. Staying hydrated is #1 on the list.

I experienced some random bouts of nausea after surgery and still do sometimes, even 2 months post-op. When I called about it after surgery, the nurse I spoke to called in an anti-nausea med for me and told me to sip warm liquids.

I'm not a medical professional, but perhaps you are experiencing nausea associated with indigestion like I was. My stomach just felt hollow and churning for a while post-op, which I think was the cause of my nausea. My doctor said it was a common complaint and it will go away in time. So you could also try something to settle your stomach like liquid Rolaids, Tums, or Pepto-Bismol (my surgeon's office recommended Pepto, but I prefer the Rolaids)

You could always call your doctor for a different anti-nausea medication as well, as cloud9 suggested.

I hope you feel better! :)

I totally understand you I fought nausea for a month. Day after day. What helped me was peppermint tea no sugar. And cold Water. I couldn't eat either everything made me queazy I tried eating bananas I would squish them . my doctor also gave me Patches for the nausea. U might want to ask they helped alot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
