Recommended Posts

I am post op 4days. I just ate a half of can cream Soup strained. I probably could eat the rest of the can. Something is wrong. I don't think my stomach is small enough. Anyone experience this?

I was just thinking the same thing! I can eat 8oz of soup before I'm "full" but to be honest I think I could eat more. I also still feel hungry. Do you know what size your sleeve is?

I don't know. I will ask when I go to my follow up. I am worried.

I don't think that anything is wrong. It will take you awhile to actually feel full, at least until you are able to eat more solid foods. There are a couple reasons- 1) Soup, and any liquid, is digested faster and will not leave you as satisfied, which is why when you can eat solids you should try to get your Protein that way. Also, your stomach is going to be healing for awhile, the nerves are cut, and your tummy won't be able to detect "full" until they heal, so that is why it is important to measure your food, esp. in the early weeks. Hope this makes sense! I am not an expert by any means but I have seen this problem before.

that makes sense. How many oz did you aim for? I didn't think about the nerves.

liquids slide through really easily and don't sit in your sleeve. Once you are on solid food you will learn that solid Protein hits the stomach and sits there for a while making us full on very little. Liquids and semi solids like chili slide through. That's why we are encouraged not to drink and eat at the same time, and why we should reach for the solid-ish protein first, once we are on regular food again.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am feeling better. I will watch the amount I drink/eat now.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
