sue_t 7 Posted April 18, 2014 Hi. I am almost three months post out. For the most part I can get my fluids in and my Proteins, but I have had hardly no veggies or fruits. There just isn't room in my tiny tummy. But I've very constipated even with taking colace. Nurse told me today to add Metamucil. Any recommendations on how to start adding vegetables into my day? Please no pinto or black Beans (too much gas)! I am tempted to buy a nutri bullet and to make shakes/smoothies and add unflavored Protein to it. Thanks!! JeanZ_RN 378 Posted April 18, 2014 I just read an excellent short article on Fiber, in the current Readers Digest. It explains which foods have soluble Fiber, which have insoluble fiber and what each of those types of fiber does in the body. Readers Digest is my go-to for short periods of killing time away from home. When I receive each issue I immediately put it in my car, so it's handy when I go out to eat alone, or have to wait for someone or something for a few minutes. The articles are short, so it's easy to put the magazine down and come back to it another time.
shoopaie 26 Posted April 18, 2014 V-8 can be an option, Probiotics might help also. However, you have to balance. One or two bites of Protein, then get vegetables. there are plenty of shakes to get extra Protein in, but not to get veggie nutrients in. good luck
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted April 18, 2014 Chobani Simply 100 Greek yogurt has 5 grams of Fiber and 100 calories per container, plus it is all natural! I add a teaspoon of Equate sugar free fiber powder to my shakes, and also to yogurt and cottage cheese. I can't taste it at all. You can blend up some strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries in your shakes. You don't want to blend too much because you actually can get rid of some of the fiber that way. You can add things like chia seeds and hemp hearts to yogurt or Protein Shakes.< /p> I make it a point to eat green veggies with at least two meals a day. 2 ounces of lean Protein and then an ounce of green veggies.
