Ready to drink protein shakes

Recommended Posts

I add 1/4 cup skim milk to the chocolate, otherwise I can't stand how thick it is. Tastes like regular chocolate milk then. I add sugar free salted caramel or hazelnut Torani Syrup to vanilla. I want to try raspberry syrup next time.

Sounds good, it's just been recently that I could tolerate the shakes but have gotten tired of the same flavors. I have put strawberry Syrup in the vanilla with ice and blended it, that was good but need to vary it or I know I won't be able to stick with it long.

I put a 1/2 tablespoon of Peanut Butter into my chocolate or vanilla protien and blend with a ice. It is a great flavor if you are a Peanut Butter holic..

I'm now on soft diet, and I can do fruit in my shakes, so I tried banana in the vanilla, it was my favorite pre-op, but it's way too sweet post-op. Your taste buds seem to change a bit. I just started adding a tsp of Decaf coffee granueles, and unsweetened chocolate, and it's pretty good. I'm really not feeling the shakes as much as before either. Good luck!

I added peanut flour to mine and it tasted great. I have also added frozen peaches to the vanilla.

The milk enhancers I tried the banana in the chocolate shake and the strawberry in the vanilla. It surprised me at how much better it made the shakes taste. Blended with ice it covered up some of that Protein smell/flavor. ( they are made with splenda). But no more than you use of it, Im ok with that.

I like orange sugar free Syrup in both my vanilla and my chocolate, and love almond flavor in my vanilla - even better warmed up! (Think marzipan.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
