I'm still in the pureed stage but have an egg question. Every diet I've ever been on has taught to only eat egg whites- but I haven't been told that with this new lifestyle. Does anyone have insight?

You will find both opinions of this forum... Personally...I eat the yolk as well. i can only put so much in my body and if I am going to eat an egg..Well it is all going down to help with the Protein intake..

That is just how I feel about it. :)

I eat the whole egg -- it's funny but fried works better for me than scrambled. I would have thought scrambled egg would be a perfect food for me, but no. And I love a piece of omelet once in a while. Yummy, I think I just figured out lunch today, lol!

I couldn't do the scrambled either unless it was the eggbeaters...can eat poached medium well and have had an bite or two of my hubs omelet...egg salad worked well too...just don't know why I can't do the regular scrambled. they are good for your Protein needs though!!! hope we helped Christy929!!! have a wonderful day.

I eat eggbeaters most of the time . I also have issues with real scrambled eggs not sure why. I can eat fried or poached eggs easily. I also eat the whole egg.. I think the yellow is blamed for cholesterol but if you do not have high cholesterol the yellow would work. I believe the whole egg is a good source of protein.plus to me It taste better with the yellow. I love deviled eggs too.

This isn't a diet if your band is adjusted properly so no need to eat only egg whites. But, I still use egg beaters if I'm making a crustless quiche or an omelet and want to add ingredients such as cheese, sausage, bacon etc.

We just use common sense and try to keep each meal around 300 calories give or take.

Thank you all! Keeping the yellow as a source of Protein makes complete sense. I do not have choleterol problems so I'll stick to this. Have a great day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
