My new favorite ice cream trick!!

Get some ripe bananas (with brown spots on the skin), cut into pieces and freeze for several hours.

Once frozen, blend or process bananas with a little milk, soy milk or almond milk until perfectly smooth and the consistency of a thick milkshake. Enjoy!! (I add PB2 or Just Great Stuff powdered chocolate peanut butter)

(you can also freeze the blended banana to make it firmer or into popsicles)

super creamy, same mouth feel as ice cream and no added sugar!

Ice cream was one of my downfalls of the past. Now I take chunky frozen fruits, about a cup, (my fav is a mango, pineapple, strawberry and papaya mix from Costco) and mix with a scoop of vanilla Protein powder. I use a stick/immersion blender and spin it up using no or as little added liquid as possible. I have to chop the bigger pieces of fruit with a knife beforehand. It comes out like a rich frozen yogurt. These are some of the higher sugar fruits so I only use this as an occasional treat, but boy is it good! Leftovers get too solid in the freezer for me so I share my batch.

sugar free creamsicles. I think about 35 calories and is more than enough to satisfy the icy, creamy craving and you don't have to worry about serving yourself too much, since it is portioned out for you.

I get the sugar free creamsicles, fudgesicles, or fruitsicles from Aldis or Krogers....ususally 15-35 calories. When I need something creamier, I go for Greek Yogurt with a little vanilla and sweetener. Also, 1/2 banana frozen on a popsicle stick or put through the processsor with a little yogurt hits the spot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
