Recommended Posts

Hi all.. I'm looking for reassurance

I was sleeved April 15, tonight is my first night home. I'm sore. Tender. And taking Percocet every 4 hours like clockwork out of fear pain will be too much to handle.

Suggestions? Advice? Feedback??

Goldissa, listen to your body. If u start having pain by all means use your pain med. But I wouldn't suggest just taking it out of fear. When they took my pain pump away I was so afraid all the pain was gonna hit me at once. But since then except for some tylenol for my back ( hate sleeping on my back) I ve taken nothing for pain. Pain meds are very useful if u need them but also addicting. When I had my gallbladder out a few years ago I took vicodin every 4 hours but I think it stalled my healing procese. It made me sleepy and lazy lol. But just listen to your body everyone is different. Maybe try waiting 5 hours to see how your feeling. U may surprise yourself

Sleeved on the 14 too, take it easy, listen to your body and don't do too much.

sleeved on the 14th too. Only took Tylenol 3. Pain Meds don't really help with gas pain. Walking and more walking helps. Spent 2 nights in hospital. I took one pill since being home.

Are you walking that gas out?

I spent 3 days at the hospital, what made me feel better was walking around the hallway at the hospital and just being home I guess. I just had lots of problems being nauseated and having problems with stomach acid. They remove my pain medication on the first day because they thought it was causing severe nausea. I didn't even noticed. Try to take in less quantity and see how your body will react to it. And walking really helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
