This will pass! It's ok! Don't regret the surgery, I was still really week about 2 weeks after my surgery! It was a month ago now and I'm feeling stronger every day! This is probably just a bad patch! You need to hang in there, even though I know how hard that is right now. Are you still really bloated?

Everyone needs to read a ton of information on WLS so that they know what can happen. Maybe you will deter someone from the pitfalls of the surgery. At 26 you might have been able to work out and lose weight. At 67, I cannot do the exercise. Risking surgery is not for the faint of heart. I hope your sickness is a temporary thing and that you feel better soon. I read a lot of posts and there are a lot of people who have problems. Anyone reading this should be sure they are prepared for what can happen.

Linda from Florida: we are not the ones to judge whether she could have lost the weight with excercise and diet... I think that anyone considering surgery should prepare for the risks of something not going right. I started the paperwork for fmla and short term disability just in case ....

I hope they can get everything figured out! My medical team had me on all kinds of anti inflammatory medications to help the swelling go down which ultimately allowed me to eat broth with Protein powder and runny oatmeal and potato Soup.

Hang in there I do hope you improve soon. I had very few if any complications. I feel very fortunate. However. It is a serious surgery and once you stabilize you will be glad you did it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
