Not Losing- 4 months Post op

Recommended Posts

It's been a week since my adjustment and I feel really good. I lost 5 pounds, but I know some of that has to do with the liquid diet a couple days after the adjustment. The nutritionist meeting went really well also. I've been eatng differently this week and I can feel it. More energy. I've also started to eat a little bit more. She said I was not eating enough which was causing my body to go into starvation mode and not lose weight. I'm starting to incorporate some turkey and more fish into my diet and I've added an afternoon snack into my routine..

Thanks again for all the tips

Might is the key word here. Everyone is different, and responds to food differently, some do fine others dont. I don't think we should discourage others from trying nutrious Protein because they "might" have an issue. My doctor never told me to rule out or avoid any food other than doughy bread. In fact he encouraged me to try problem foods a couple of different times before completely ruling them out.

I eat shrimp all the time. Being from Boston we are lobster people. I can't chew that any more. I use to eat that a lot. I also eat jumbo lump crab. Tastes great, easy to chew but us $25. Per lb

I am in this exact same situation. My problem is I am not exercising. I do bands for my arms and back and some leg exercises. My sister is a personal trainer, so I know what I need to do. She has even told me how to avoid some of the excess skin that will most likely happen later on. I stay so stressed out from my job and other things going on in my life right now that I never get to focus on ME and workout or even go for a walk. The only exercise I like is swimming and I cannot afford the gym membership right now to use the pool. I also am having a problems with the mental aspect of this lifestyle change. I am thinking about seeing a counselor to help with that but again it is finding the time. I really wish that I had 3 months off work to focus on myself and get things going good. I have so much vacation and sick time built up but cannot use it due to how busy we are. WOW...so sorry for the rant!! maybe someone has advice???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
