Hi just received paperwork from the doctor have my first appointment on April 30 in the paperwork there was a paper that had a list of diets I need to fill out that I tried and how much weight I lost. I have been successful with diets in the past and have lost a significant amount of weigh but have always gained it back plus more should I be honest on this paperwork? I don't want to write the wrong thing and get denied. I don't want them to feel that I'm just being lazy now and don't want to do the other stuff again!

I would be honest. Even though you lost weight on the programs, obviously they haven't been successful for you long term. That actually helps you more than if you haven't tried anything at all and are looking to WLS first.

Good luck!

I had done the same thing. I put it all down. The DR was impressed that I had tried numerous times. (so I could stick to a plan) but I needed an extra tool to be successful.

Yes, be honest. I did it too and was not a problem.

Yes, put all of it down. That helps the insurance co. see that you have tried diets and they haven't worked for you.

Definitely be honest. The insurance company just wants to see that you've made efforts in the past and have failed.

Be honest they just want to see you've tried numerous ways to lose weight! I was honest and was successful with weight loss too but gained it all back! Getting sleeved on April 28!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
