@@marfar7 Weighing every morning at the same time is normal... for you. Don't worry about trying to be like others because it doesn't work for you. I'm someone who also needs to weigh in every day. But only once a day at the same time, which is right after I wake up and use the restroom. This does not make you or me obsessive, it's just your way of keeping yourself in check.

I agree. I think it is when we start beating ourselves up over obsessive weighing is where we do damage to ourselves. I went to once a month after reading a post from someone posting ... in all caps ... about how they had gained 0.3 pounds in the afternoon from their morning weigh in. They lamented they knew they would be a failure at the sleeve. I also knew I was capable of that obsessive behavior and beat myself up like the poster did, so I changed my weigh ins.

Currently we have thread from someone panicking about a 3 pound weight gain from the night before. Do they really believe they gained 3 pounds of fat overnight? Daily weighing, I believe, is fine if it is in the context as described by Irene. But we have to also monitor our brains and ensure we are not moving into unhealthy reactions to truly know what readings the scale give us means.

I weigh once a week and before I step on the scale I say outloud "No matter what this says, I am a good person". :)

At least once a day- since I understand that weight fluctuates and that stalls happen, it has no affect on my happiness. I just have a habit of stepping on it everyday.

Once a week works for me. My weight fluctuates slightly from day to day but I find invariably from one week to the next 3-6 lbs less than the week before...

If I weighed every day it would drive me bananas. Others would go bananas if they had to go that long between weigh-ins. Do what works for your emotional needs.

how often do you weigh yourself?

@@hrhlaurie

when i started my walk through sleeveland i weighed once a week

as time passsed i weighed myself more often, 2, 3 days apart

at goal - i now weigh daily

i don't think thats obsessive

like others have said...............

i want to stay accountable - make sure that # doesn't go up more than a couple of pounds

i'm not committing hary cary, but i'm up 4 lbs (but please dont tell anyone ok/?? ;) )

now, back to the drawing board - i'm sure i can take the weight off within a few weeks

but if i didn't weigh myself, it might have been more pounds to take off!!!!

anyways.............as you can see, many of us do things in there own way, however it works for them!!!

good luck

kathy

I also weigh daily even though I am aware of the issue of normal fluctuations. I weigh each morning, after going to the bathroom and before drinking or eating anything, to try to keep to a stable comparison. When I see a bump up, but I know I have followed the program, I don't let it worry me. However, when I know I need to exercise more or I know that I did not follow the eating guidelines the previous day or two, the change on the scale serves as an affirmation to what I know and causes me to get back in the saddle.

Each person has to find what works for them. This works for me.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
