yodasplash 20 Posted April 16, 2014 So, prior to surgery, I was a self-confessed Dr. Pepper addict. Since I started dating my wife, I had pretty much switched over to Diet Dr. Pepper. My nutritionist obviously told me to steer clear of soda because of the carbonation. However, I really miss the flavor. Has anyone tried using a soda flavoring like the SodaStream line, with plain Water instead of the carbonated Water?
septappt 74 Posted April 16, 2014 Interesting ! Good idea but how much sugar would be in it?
Chelly 364 Posted April 16, 2014 Toscani makes sugar free syrups in many flavors and it is made with Splenda. Maybe give them a try and see if they have anything that sounds good to you.

I was also curious if I could just open a Diet Dr. Pepper and let it sit till it goes flat. Not the ideal solution, just a thought
piercedqt78 658 Posted April 16, 2014 If you have a Sonic near you, they can make a slush with Diet Dr. Pepper. It's amazing, and no carbonation at all. They can also add cherry or vanilla Syrup and it only adds a few calories. The slush mix has some calories, but not too many, and it really helps with the cravings. 1 anitamaria reacted to this

Jalyn96 13 Posted April 17, 2014 Im also a diet dr pepper addict. I bought the diet dr pepper flavor for soda stream and added it to plain Water and it was absolutely disgusting. I gave them up in Janurary and crave a nice cold can.
yodasplash 20 Posted April 17, 2014 piercedqt78 - Unless Sonic has changed their recipe for the slush mix, no thanks. I worked their when I turned 16 and had to make the slush mix. It was just basically sugar and Water. And the flavoring is just soda from the fountain. A 20oz "Real Fruit" Lemon slush has 290 calories and 72 grams of sugar. jalyn96 - thanks for the heads up. piercedqt78 658 Posted April 18, 2014 14 oz of the base is about 140 calories. Like I said it does have sugar, and calories, but if you are craving a coke or Dr. pepper there is no carbonation, and it really eases the craving. I get a child sized or a small, so it's about 70 calories for the 8 oz, and the diet dr pepper has like 10 calories. Not too bad.
