suggestions for full liquids ? sick and tired of broth

Recommended Posts

7 days post op , doing well but getting hungry and sick of the Protein drinks (diluted with milk) Jello, lowfat yogurt.

Could I blend the crap out of italian wedding Soup , strain, and then sip sowly ? Anything ? can't find any lowfat creamy Soups ---- ideas ? I don't like cream of celery. Thanks :)

I did cream of Mushroom, cream of chicken etc. But for the most part I stuck with the Protein Drinks mixed in Crystal light and counted the days till I could start on pureed foods :)

My dr office didn't demand low fat on my full liquid stage. I was able to blend any soup and strain it.

I was on full liquids before leaving the hospital post-op. I loved the Pacific Organic box Soups mixed with some unflavored Protein Powder. My doc also didn't stress low fat during that stage.

Thank you !! I am going to look forward to some Soup. I was afraid it would hurt me. I will try small sips but it would be great just to have a tasty soup/strained that is :)

I blended a bazillion cans of Soup. And soup that I bought at a restaurant. I got sooooooooo sick of sugary tasting liquids. broth is clear liquid, can of soup in blender is full liquid (unless there are chucks). The first month is hard but it gets better quickly! Hang in there!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
