Did any serious smokers cheat? Can you get this surgery if you smoked 1 week prior?

Recommended Posts

I have a friend who wants to do this surgery but couldn't find a way to stop smoking with me when I did back in September.

She will be paying cash and wants to know if anyone had serious complications after surgery due to continued use.

Or if you did continue to use and were ok at the hospital but later had complications due to the smoke.

Please help, she's in dire need as she prepares for her wedding this Christmas.

Thanks all..

You will always be able to find someone who cheated and was fine. That is not the point. Those who cheated and didn't heal properly have a hard time coming to the forums and posting about it. If she wants to go against her Drs orders, there is nothing you are going to be able to do about it. She is a grown up. She knows the risks.

BTW, I know lots of people who drink excessively and get in the car, drive home and are fine. They had no problems. Since I know a few people who did it, then it should be fine for everyone to do it, too. It's just too bad those who did have problems can't tell us their story.

Tell her not too...I am now 30 smoke free that is because 30 days ago I was admitted to ICU with a leak and abscess. I have other medical issues that contributed to the leak but I am sure the smoking did not help. I can remember taking a drag and feeling like it went threw my stomach and into my body directly... and that is exactly where the leak was....

E-cigs is how I did it. They don't show up on the blood test because there's no carbon-monoxide to poison your blood. I'm sure there will be a day soon when "vaping" is deemed evil and banned everywhere. But it really helped me get the smoke out. My hubby did too. We smell so much better! Lol

There's no acceptable rationalization to continue smoking. Quitting is the only option.

Be Well
