Thank you, Kate. It feels so good to be happy. I was hiding from people I went to school because I didn't want them to see how big I had gotten. It's so awesome to finally follow something through and do what I've been saying I was going to do for years. Get healthy!

Alright people, it's Week 10, so I'll set it up this week. Check in time!!!!

1) height / weight starting our wls programs: 5' 7", 255

2) weight day of surgery:243

3) weight 10 week post op / pounds lost/gained: 199.6 / 2.2 lost this week / 55.4 total (by the way, someone posted congrats on my 63 lb weight loss so I had to go back into my profile. I had my original weight at 274, which it was back in Nov 2013, but I updated it to 255 which is what it was when I started with my surgeon. (tomato tomahto - but updated it to be more accurate from the beginning of this journey) sorry...rambling.

4) goal weight: 150-ish

5) your biggest success this week: I MADE IT TO THE 100's!!!!!!!! Seriously, I can't remember when I was in the one hundreds last. I was in denial for a long time that I was so big, because I went through two pregnancies and was really happy, then it was like I woke up one day and was really, really overweight. I've been going through before pictures and was like wow, I've been really overweight for a lot longer than I thought! Oh and I bought a size 12! I know I've already mentioned both of these previously, but these were my successes. And I did 60 minutes on the elliptical machine without feeling like I was going to pass out. I actually lost track of time and thought, "Oh shoot, I have to get back to work!" Awesome feeling when exercise is no longer a chore.

6) your biggest struggle this week: Reflux continues to hurt.....but the good news is the endoscope looked great, so no damage, just pain. But again, if this is the worst I have to deal with, I'll take it. A lot of people have way worse than reflux, so I'm willing to suck it up and deal with it. (I'll just complain to you all. Hee, hee)

I feel kinda like I'm the Debbie Downer in this thread. I'm not really happy despite losing almost 70lbs thus far. And I don't really feel much better either. My back doesn't hurt anymore and I don't get reflux much (though that could be partially attributed to the medication) but I traded that for a dull pressure right between my breasts every time I swallow, stomach upset nearly every time I eat and more urinary burning because I still can't seem to drink enough sometimes.

I'm also still incredibly irritated about what I can eat and trying to plan meals. Gotten to where I just don't eat rather than going through the frustration.

My only change from last week is that I dropped a couple of pounds. Everything else is the same.

1) Height / weight starting our wls programs: 5' 7", 234

2) Weight day of surgery: 224

3) 10 week post op weight / pounds lost/gained: 194.8, 1.7 pounds lost this week, 39.2 pounds total

4) Goal weight: 160 surgeon's goal, 140 stretch goal

5) Your biggest success this week: 10 weeks out from surgery and I avoided another stall! I've noticed that the scale tends to move on Thursday or Friday each week, so I'm curious if this will continue! My weight loss has been sloooow and steady. As long as the weight is coming off, I'm happy! One positive is saggy skin hasn't been an issue - yet. I had some on my thighs a few weeks ago, and it seems to have snapped back. One positive to the slow weight loss is my skin has a chance to adjust! My weight loss has been 90% diet up to this point, as my exercise has been sporadic. I changed it up this week and have been walking/jogging on the treadmill. It takes me 1 hour to do 3 miles. I love exercise, but my busy work/life schedule made it difficult to fit it in. I have most of the summer off, so focusing on creating new habits that I can continue long term. I read on someone's BP post, "skinny people look good in clothes, fit people look good naked." I have an inner athlete in me as I was a competitive ice skater as a child/young adult. I'm amazed how quickly my legs are toning up. I have come to accept that the scale may stop reporting my progress for awhile if I'm building muscle.

6) Your biggest struggle this week: I've slacked a bit on recording what I consume on my Lose It app. I know long-term, tracking what I eat is vital to maintenance.

5)I am on day five if my vitamins! No vomiting! I ate a cheese enchilada! Okay I ate a third of it but still. Lol I'm finally able to eat real food. I learned my tummy can only handle bites about the size if my thumb nail, chew chew chew, and next bite about two minutes later. What a lesson on PATIENCE this has been! Phew I have made it through. Starting to feel back to normal just a smidge. Two dates this week too. Yay me! Since I'm so open about surgery I get daily cheers and omg your skinny! Feels fab!

6)I'm still battling fatigue and stress but everyday I feel a little but better and that is what I keep reminding myself. I have had pain for a long time which is gone. A little mental challenge is okay as long as I see a light at this very long tunnel I can handle all of the little obstacles to get there! Baby steps! Baby steps and apparently baby bites.

Hugs my bp fam!

Melodica - I'm sorry to hear that you are still have a bad time. Chin up, my friend! Hopefully your struggles are short-term. In the meantime, don't downplay your successes! Congrats on the scale moving in the right direction!

I can offer that. I posted an update reciently with things that have changed that I didnt expect. (see below) I was wondering if any of you have found things Post-Surgery that differ from Pre-Surgery

  • chicken McNuggets were amazing before. They now smell like Satan’s dirty underwear.
  • Salmon – Pre-Surgery- yucktastic Now- an amazing fish
  • Ice Cream is impossible to eat now. (kinda bummed about that one…not really)
  • Knee/foot pain from tennis – largely gone
  • Existing on less than 1000 calories a day is not as bad as you may think
  • Gatorade is physically easier to drink than Water (I know, that is hard for me to believe too)
  • My libido is more…noticeable

Anything similar going on with you?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
