Dry food that sticks versus sliders

Recommended Posts

Had my second fill 2 weeks ago. Finally my hunger is curbed and I'm consuming much less - and the scale is moving!

But, I'm finding that I cannot eat tolerate certain foods - particularly anything dry. And I know to avoid sliders. My question is - where is that delicate balance between food that is so dry it sticks and food that is so moist it slides?

Or should I even worry about foods being too moist as long as I'm satiated, eating healthy, and losing weight?

Any feedback is welcome.

I am pretty new to this, but my Dr. said keep dry foods moist. If I boil a chicken breast I put 1 teaspoon of BBQ Sauce on it to moisten it. If I have a hamburger patty (once a week) I make a mushroom gravy and put a can of sliced mushrooms in it. I then only use one tablespoon of gravy with mushrooms to moisten the

patty. This can also be used for chicken etc. etc. I use a little mayo with tuna. The important thing is to get the Protein. I have found some good ideas on UTUBE under lap band diet/cooking. You might give it a try. Good luck.

The line you ask about is elusive and different for each of us. Leftover meats or over cooked foods like chicken and pork are notorious slow pokes through the stoma. I agree with Breedlove, I too use sauces, Condiments and gravies to lube things up so these foods pass through the stoma with little friction.

I like salmon but if I cook it 2 minutes too long or eat leftovers, I use hollandaise to lube it up. The trick is to find lubricant/foods that are low fat, low sugar and low calorie. So, use less or no butter with the hollandaise mix.

Dry foods do give more satiety than the slippery foods. I prefer freshly cooked foods that are more pliable but I also don't like throwing good food away. So, it's a personal balance I guess.

I can't eat overcooked food. all my Proteins are rare. and I only eat dark meat chicken or turkey. when you are eating solids it is so important to space your bites apart. make sure the food is going through the band. take a bite of food and wait to a count of 10 and than take another little bite. it's really hard to take your time. I know I have eaten to fast if my food still has some heat to it. I am getting real good at eating cold food. and than there are some days where solids just isn't going to work. got to plan for those days. so you are still getting your Protein from food sources but yet giving your stoma a chance to rest.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
