QUESTION: H. Pylori & the sleeve

Recommended Posts

I recently had my blood work done ( I am not schedule for surgery until late 2014)

However it came back that I was positive for H. Pylori and my PCP said that the Bariatric surgeon should be the one who gives me meds since he ask for the test.

Any thought about this anyone:

I find it a little strange that my PCP want treat me :-(

I want to get this resolve because I am sure I will not be able to go thru with surgery until I test neg

I am so glad that I started these test 6 months in advance would hate to have found this out a week before surgery

PLEASE HELP any advice .........is helpful

It's not uncommon with my doctors. My PCP will not prescribe on another doctor's diagnosis, and that includes the pain clinic, the orthopedist, the spine surgeon, the gastro-intestinal clinic, the foot doctor and the bariatric clinic. Everybody does their own thing.

I had H. Pylori too and got the treatment from my Bariatric Surgeon. I think it is best to let the Bariatric surgeon treat these findings since the surgeon ordered the test. That way they don't have to rely on the Primary to make sure the dosage, etc was administered.

The finding did delay when I thought I was going to be able to have my surgery for about a month. I was upset and worried about it. After doing some research, it appears that it is very common. My Doctor just asked if I had finished the treatment and I told him yes. He didn't retest and even said that he doesn't test for it anymore as they don't think having H. Pylori makes much of a difference. Some recent studies suggest that the presence of H. pylori in the stomach may be beneficial for some diseases. I was surprised to say the least.

I would ask your Doctor if:

1. He is going to retest

2. Does the test have to be negative to go though with surgery

I hope this helps and I wish you the best. The good news is the treatment made me a little sick to my stomach and I was able to lose about 15 lbs before surgery because of it.

H,. Pylori is VERY common, it is caused by your Water (from what I understand)... I had to have the test; but since I have purified Water in my house...mine came back negative :)

So don't worry about it, it's common, and when your surgeon gets the results, they should be calling in a script for you...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
