Hi All.....I had my sleeve surgery on 2/4/2014. I remember one of the first things I told the nurse......my stomach is growling like I am hungry......and I can't tell if I am.

Well here I am 10 weeks later and having this stomach growling worse than ever. The funny thing is, it starts as soon as I eat anything! If I don't eat, I don't have my stomach yelling at me!!

When I do eat, I just don't feel like I get any satisfaction. I make sure I am getting entry of Protein. This is my main item during my meals. So much so, that sometimes this is all I able to get in. I thought the Protein was suppose to keep me full longer. There just is no satisfaction, and the stomach grumbling is awful. Last visit to the doctors, they told me this is normal. I just don't feel it is.

Has anyone experienced this or something similar?

Thanks

I had lots of stomach growling and I burped al lot in the beginning. I am 2 1/2 months post op and the growling isn't so much now. However I still feel the need to burp every so often. I think it is just normal considering all the changes we had to go through. My first thought was your Protein, but you answered that right off stating you are meeting your protein requirements. Maybe it is more "digestive" noise than "growling" you are hearing. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
